Antique William Kirby Domed Lid Pewter Tankard

Description:

Domed lid, Crenate lip, Ramshorn thumbpiece, Fishtail terminal-No rib. Fine condition with no repairs. Fourth quarter 18thC. Signed interior bottom. Purchased from H.V. Button of Waterford NY on Feb 16, 1931 for the sum of $500 (basically a bit over 9K!). This tankard is considered to be one of the most beautiful forms ever made in American pewter.
