Witherstine was a gallery director who worked in Provincetown, MA, but also a fine etcher, block print maker and a landscape painter. Known for images of dunes as well as architectural and village views. Witherstine's oils show the influence of Cezanne, whom he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia under George Elmer Brown.
