From an Old Town Alexandria Virginia estate, this fine mid century American tall case clock features very thickly cut walnut veneer over pine primary. Very good original cosmetic condition with no restorations except replaced side window glass (now plexi). The brass works appear complete and original as well. Usually we find these antique American tall case clocks heavily restored. This example is the exception: 97% original as shown, including the paint on the thick iron dial, as well the painted pendulum. The door diamond shaped 1" key escutcheon is missing; the door key is included. An old #14 brass, iron and wood winding key was found wired to the back as shown, however this key is not original. The weight strings are presently not wrapped around the winding drums properly, however, this remains so only because we do not want to risk any damage-better to leave this to a collector to handle. The heavy pig irom weights are original as well. A fine and beautiful estate found antique American tall case offered with NO RESERVE.
